Our per­spec­tive on the fu­ture of dig­i­tal ed­u­ca­tion

The Insti­tu­te for digi­tal Learning deve­lops, pro­du­ces and imple­ments digi­tal-mul­ti­me­dia app­li­ca­ti­ons for edu­ca­tio­nal pur­po­ses. We see our­sel­ves as part of the ongo­ing digi­tal revo­lu­ti­on. Our work inter­con­nects sci­en­ti­fic foun­da­ti­ons with actu­al app­li­ca­ti­on situa­ti­ons. We com­bi­ne best prac­tice methods and inno­va­ti­ve approa­ches through pro­fes­sio­nal­ly pro­du­ced digi­tal con­tent. We belie­ve that digi­tal media offer decisi­ve advan­ta­ges for high-qua­li­ty media­ti­on of con­tent and methods. The­re­fo­re, we are always loo­king for the ide­al syn­the­sis of con­tent, tech­no­lo­gy and didac­tics.

With this dyna­mic blend of crea­ti­ve inno­va­tors and edu­ca­tio­nal spe­cia­lists we are con­stant­ly working to crea­te cut­ting-edge digi­tal and mul­ti­me­dia (school)books, apps and edu­ca­tio­nal con­cepts – always focus­sing on expo­sing the addi­tio­nal bene­fits of digi­tal media in edu­ca­tio­nal pro­ces­ses.

The mBook

The digi­tal school­book mBook is an award-win­ning edu­ca­tio­nal tool. In the spring of 2016, it was the first digi­tal school­book to be recei­ve the pri­ze for ‘School­book of Year’ at the Leipzg Book Fair. This pri­ze is awar­ded by the Georg Eckert Insti­tu­te for Inter­na­tio­nal School­book Rese­arch and the Federal Cen­ter for Civic Edu­ca­ti­on in Ger­ma­ny under the aus­pi­ces of the Con­fe­rence of Minis­ters of Edu­ca­ti­on and Cul­tu­ral Affairs. At the Frank­furt Book Fair, the mBook addi­tio­nal­ly won the ‘Ger­man eBook Award’ in the fall of 2015 for its inter­play of con­tent, func­tion and design.

On the basis of the award-win­ning mBook-pro­jects men­tio­ned above, the mBook was com­ple­te­ly revi­sed, com­ple­te­ly rebuild in tech­ni­cal terms as well as in terms of con­tent and crea­ted to meet the nati­onwi­de needs of histo­ry cur­ri­cu­la in Ger­man schools.
