The Institute for digital Learning develops, produces and implements digital-multimedia applications for educational purposes. We see ourselves as part of the ongoing digital revolution. Our work interconnects scientific foundations with actual application situations. We combine best practice methods and innovative approaches through professionally produced digital content. We believe that digital media offer decisive advantages for high-quality mediation of content and methods. The team of the Institute for Digital Learning consists of teachers, media educators, graphic artists, moving image specialists and computer scientists.

With this dynamic blend of creative innovators and educational specialists we are constantly working to create cutting-edge digital and multimedia (school)books, apps and educational concepts – always focussing on exposing the additional benefits of digital media in educational processes.

Florian Sochatzy is the CEO of the Institute for Digital Learning. His main responsibilities lie in the coordination of the content and the multimedia production as well as ensuring continuous technical improvement of the mBook software.

As an art educater, Günther acts as link between didactic theory and practical visual communication. He is an expert in visualizing historical content with images, animations and caricatures.

The work of professor Waltraud Schreiber provides an important part of the theoretic and didactic foundations of the mBook.

The mBook

The digital schoolbook mBook is an award-winning educational tool. In the spring of 2016, it was the first digital schoolbook to be receive the prize for ‘Schoolbook of Year’ at the Leipzg Book Fair. This prize is awarded by the Georg Eckert Institute for International Schoolbook Research and the Federal Center for Civic Education in Germany under the auspices of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs. At the Frankfurt Book Fair, the mBook additionally won the ‘German eBook Award’ in the fall of 2015 for its interplay of content, function and design.

On the basis of the award-winning mBook-projects mentioned above, the mBook was completely revised, completely rebuild in technical terms as well as in terms of content and created to meet the nationwide needs of  history curricula in German schools.
